tff
An architecture linter that checks layer rules and duplicate logic in data transformation projects.
What does it do?
Running tff in an existing dbt, SQLMesh, or Dataform repository infers common layer conventions from staging through marts without a separate configuration file. It then examines relationships between transformation models rather than the syntax of individual SQL files, checking layer boundaries and domain contracts. Adding these checks to CI helps identify disallowed joins to higher layers and duplicate transformation logic spread across models.
Key features
- Check layer boundaries and domain contracts across the transformation graph
- Detect disallowed joins to higher layers and duplicate transformation logic
- Infer default layer conventions to start an audit without a configuration file
- Check architectural violations in CI
