WHAT IT DOES
What does it do?
Ramanujan uses idle CPUs from internet-connected digital devices capable of basic arithmetic as a distributed computing network. Users can write simulations in Python and run them on the cluster; each node executes compiled calculations through a native Ramanujan interpreter without a Python installation. It currently supports Android, Linux, Windows, and macOS devices, without requiring a separate client for each type of calculation.
KEY FEATURES
Key features
- Write scientific calculations and simulations in Python
- Compile Python code for the Ramanujan runtime
- Run through a native interpreter without installing Python on nodes
- Distribute tasks without developing or installing a new client for each calculation type
- Combine idle computing power from internet-connected devices in a distributed network
- Support for Android, Linux, Windows, and macOS devices
EDITOR'S NOTE
Why did it stand out?
It converts calculation code into an intermediate representation that different devices can execute instead of distributing a dedicated client for every task. Its approach to bringing varied idle devices together with one client installation is interesting.
