overtone-captions
A captioning tool that creates and plays text layouts for different aspect ratios from a single caption file.
What does it do?
Feed existing captions or audio and video into the CLI to create a .overtone.json file containing word timing and speaker information. Captions are broken into lines separately for specified ratios such as 16:9 and 9:16, and the video.js player displays the layout suited to the current screen. Existing captions can be converted offline into landscape and portrait VTT and SRT files and transcripts.
Key features
- Stores word level timing and speaker information in a single .overtone.json file.
- Reflows caption lines and segments for each aspect ratio.
- Converts existing captions offline into VTT and SRT files and transcripts.
- Supports provider APIs or an offline method using whisper.cpp and Ollama for audio conversion.
- Displays captions suited to the player through a video.js plugin.
