A tool that gives terminal coding agents current read only repositories and disposable workspaces

WHAT IT DOES
What does it do?
shed maintains current repository checkouts as an operating system level read only catalog and synchronizes it at the start of each session. When an agent needs to make changes, it creates an independent disposable workspace; the prune command reclaims workspaces left by merged PRs. It runs as a single Go binary without a daemon or telemetry.
KEY FEATURES
Key features
- Maintain a read only catalog of current repository checkouts
- Synchronize the catalog when an agent session starts
- Create and close independent disposable workspaces for changes
- Clean up workspaces left by merged PRs
- Delegate Git authentication to the existing shell configuration
- Record synchronization failures and show status and remedies
EDITOR'S NOTE
Why did it stand out?
Separating the reference repository agents read from the workspace they modify reduces conflicts and damage during parallel work. The reason for choosing independent clones over worktrees for writable spaces is also clear.
