WHAT IT DOES
What does it do?
OpenComputerUse performs an agent’s computer actions in the background. It returns a fresh screenshot after each action, can provide a UI tree on request, and supports recipes that run multiple steps in sequence. Its macOS app provides MCP client installation and session management; MCP server binaries for Linux and Windows are also described.
KEY FEATURES
Key features
- Create app sessions and run background actions using a session ID
- Return a screenshot and optional UI tree after an action
- Run sequential actions as recipes
- Install the MCP server in Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, and OpenCode
- Control a computer from another device through an HTTP API when configured
EDITOR'S NOTE
Why did it stand out?
The user retains pointer and keyboard focus while the agent controls an app. Actions are grouped into sessions for each app, and a fresh screenshot after every action makes progress visible.
